The Reselgit®, urethane elastomer, is a product that has characteristics clearly superior to rubber, both natural and synthetic, especially as regards the resistance to abrasion, to cutting and breaking. More in detail, in a manner to orient, it can be considered that the abrasion resistance exceeds six to eight times that of other elastomers, while the breaking load may be, at the same hardness, higher by three to four times. In addition to high mechanical characteristics, this product offers considerable advantages for the physical properties of resistance to vegetable oils, minerals and aromatic hydrocarbons, petrol, diesel and most common solvents and alcohols. It has excellent resistance to aging under the most severe environmental conditions: in the presence of ozone, ultraviolet rays, marine atmosphere; enduring good hydrolysis even in tropical climates. It tolerates a considerable temperature range. He begins to stiffen below -20 ° C and brittle over the -60 ° C, totally regaining its characteristics at room temperature. In operation, the material can withstand temperatures from -40 ° C to + 95 ° C, with peaks up to + 120 ° C, maintaining a good part of its characteristics; It is also self-extinguishing.
The Reselgit® combines the above property a considerable load capacity (150 daN / cm² for low hardnesses reaching 250 daN / cm² for the maximum ones) and a high hardness up to Shore D starting from 65 55 Shore A. Therefore, its performance is suited also to the solutions to technical problems which require the characteristics of the tires and, simultaneously, of plastics.
The various types of Reselgit® are not obtained with the addition of fillers or inert substances, but operating on the doses and the nature of the components, thus obtaining more faithfully the reproducibility of the characteristics required from time to time.
With special technological processes are obtained more easily finished pieces of large size and of complex shapes in Reselgit®. Although with these proceedings the dimensional tolerances are not very tight, the pieces thus obtained, albeit of high hardness, can also be forced in mounting without producing permanent deformations.
